INTERVIEW

Part Three

Questions I wanted to ask people
but was too sick to ask people
so I asked myself

Or,

An Invisible Bodymind Witness talking with the Invisible Bodymind

Invisible bodymind witness
What are the creative or practice artefacts an invisible bodymind finds, surfaces, collects, carries?

Invisible bodymind
Hmmm
I suppose... I begin with thinking about... is the invisible bodymind receiving artefacts any differently from a visible bodymind?
An artefact is defined as an object, tool made by humans.
I do not connect so much to the word made.
Made. Visible. Flesh. Control.
My invisible bodymind doesn't feel a closeness to the stasis, authority, finality of the word made.
I receive it carefully.

[silence]

I... don't want to receive visible and invisible as opposites.
I... don't want to spend time at borders and thresholds I no longer experience.

[silence]

In the field of archaeology... in the last twenty years there has been a growing focus on the immaterial qualities of artefacts in order to hypothesise more meaningfully about objects, the visible.
They are referred to as the intangible elements of culture.
And they are defined as 'mediate'.
Mediate meaning placed or inserted between one thing and another.
A middle state or position.
Mediate, derived from the Late Latin word "mediatus" which translates to "placed in the middle".

Invisible bodymind witness
So... not a finality.

Invisible bodymind
Not an end point.
Not an end at all but a middle.

[silence]

Invisible bodymind witness
I remember reading in archaeology that an artefact is described as "a general term for an item made or given shape."(1)

Invisible bodymind
I like this so much more: “given shape”.
I want to take those words and bring them down with me into invisible bodymind creativity and expression.
Move them back into an earlier tense of giving shape.
To a continuality of giving shape.
Not an end point of giving.
An invisible bodymind is in continual interdependent relational dynamics; giving shapes.
Maybe... the invisible bodymind receives as like to like.

[silence]

Maybe... it is intrigued by and moved by and changed by and curious about the middles and the expanding movements and motions of middles.
Maybe... the invisible bodymind finds, surfaces, collects, carries invisible relational and interdependent flux movements and motions of and within voids and vast invisibles of self and creativity.

Invisible bodymind witness
Receiving with a softness, and a porosity, and a politeness, and a reciprocity.
And without caution.
With an ease of absorption.

Invisible bodymind
An invisible bodymind will find, surface, collect, carry the still-moving of invisible creativity and practice.

[silence]

I... want to unlearn everything about how I have known what creative artefacts are.
I want to explore and discover... my own way of defining them.
My own words and language for them.
I want to be new here.

[silence]

If the visible... the flesh is dissolving... decaying... so can our old ways.
So many of the phases of decay move and seem the same as growth.

Invisible bodymind witness
Hmmm... the experience... of becoming invisible... as a reverse seeding.

[silence]

Invisible bodymind
Can I share a poem with you?

Invisible bodymind witness
Always.

Invisible bodymind
"Vultures are holy creatures.
Tending the dead.
Bowing low.
Bared head.
Whispers to cold flesh,
'Your old name is not your
king. I rename you
'Everything.'"(2)

This work we are beginning is a vulture.

Invisible bodymind witness
We can be new here.
